In honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary, the McAninch Art Center and Cleve Carney Museum of Art, in association with the College of DuPage Foundation, present Walking With Giants. Exhibition opens until October 2026.

Rich Lo is an award-winning author, illustrator, and fine artist whose work bridges the gap between personal narrative and cultural history. Born in Canton, China, Rich immigrated to the United States as a child, arriving in Chicago’s Chinatown with his family and only the belongings that could fit into a few suitcases. That early experience of transition and discovery became the foundation of his lifelong commitment to visual storytelling.

With a career spanning four decades, Rich has mastered a diverse range of artistic techniques. He has authored and illustrated seven children’s books widely held in libraries across the United States, created large scale public murals, and exhibited in prestigious museum institutions, including the National Hellenic Museum and the Cleve Carney Museum of Art.

Rich’s practice is built on the belief that art is a tool for connection. As a faculty member at The Morton Arboretum and a former Artist in Residence at the DuPage Children’s Museum, he specializes in developing original curricula that blend technical rigor with creative exploration. Whether he is producing high level commercial illustrations for corporate clients or intimate fine art series, Rich brings a professional, storyteller’s approach to every project.

Rich currently lives and works in the Chicago area, where he continues to explore themes of identity, resilience, and the immigrant experience through his art. He is available for public art commissions, educational residencies, and speaking engagements.
